MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL PARISH MEETING
HELD ON TUESDAY 29 MAY 2007
AT THE MEMORIAL HALL, HOLLY ROAD, WAINSCOTT AT 8.00 pm

PRESENT:

 

Cllr D Coomber, Chairman; Cllrs T Archer, Mrs V Archer, Mrs P Coomber, Mrs B Hoskin, P Hicks, G Moore and D Miller; Alistair Martin, Trading Standards, Medway Council; 6 parishioners.

 

APOLOGIES:

 

Apologies for absence were received from Cllrs G and Mrs J Etheridge and T Mason.

 

The Chairman welcomed everyone to the meeting. The Clerk read the minutes of the last Annual Parish Meeting.

MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL PARISH MEETING HELD ON 24 APRIL 2006

 

 

 

The Minutes of the Annual Parish Meeting 2006 having been read, it was proposed by Cllr Hicks, seconded by Cllr Bird and agreed they were a true account of that meeting and were signed by the Chairman.

ACCOUNTS

 

 

 

The Financial Statement of the Parish Council’s Accounts for the year ended 31 March 2006 and the Draft Accounts for the year ended 31 March 2007 were received.

 

No questions were asked.

ANNUAL REPORT

 

 

 

The Council’s Annual Report for 2006/7 was read. A copy is annexed to these minutes. No questions were asked.

OTHER BUSINESS AT THE CHAIRMAN’S DISCRETION

 

 

 

No matters were raised.

 

The Chairman then introduced Alistair Martin, Trading Standards Officer, Medway Council and invited him to speak.

 

Mr Martin spoke of the work of Trading Standards, with especial emphasis on counterfeit goods, which were often sold to finance organised crime. He showed examples of items, comparing them with the genuine article and explaining how the difference could be detected. He encouraged residents to report anything suspicious to him, including street traders, door-to-door salespeople and cold calling tradesmen.

 

The Chairman thanked Mr Martin for his presentation. He also thanked his fellow councillors and the Clerk for their support over the last twelve months.

 

Cllr Hicks proposed a vote of thanks to the Chairman for the work he had done during the past year. This was seconded by Cllr Mrs Hoskin.

 

The Chairman then thanked Mr Martin, councillors and parishioners for attending and closed the meeting at 8.55 pm
